Marques Warrick collects seventh #HLMBB Freshman of the Week award

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky's Marques Warrick was named the Horizon League's Freshman of the Week for the seventh time this year, which are tied for the third-most in league history.

Warrick notched back-to-back 20-point performances over the weekend against Wright State. He now has nine 20-point performances, all of which have come versus league opposition. He opened with a 23-point showing on Friday night to help Northern Kentucky snap Wright State's nine-game winning streak. As an encore, he poured in 21 against the Raiders on Saturday night.

In the two-game set, Warrick averaged 22 points while shooting 47 percent (14-of-30) from the floor and a whopping 57 percent (8-of-14) from three.

The Lexington, Kentucky, native is averaging 15.9 points per game this year, but that number balloons to 17.5 points per game in League play, which is the fifth-best mark in the conference.

Warrick's seven weekly freshman accolades this year ties him with Wright State's Loudon Love, Detroit Mercy's Antoine Davis and former Oakland player Kay Felder as the third-most all-time.

Northern Kentucky closed the regular season with a 13-10 overall record, including an 11-7 mark in League play. The Norse earned the No. 4 seed in the Horizon League Championship and will host a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday, March 2.
