HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Marques Warrick earned his sixth Horizon League Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week honor of the season the league office announced on Monday. The Northern Kentucky rookie previously earned the award on Nov. 30, Dec. 7, Jan. 4, Jan. 11 and Jan. 25.
Warrick flirted with the less conventional points/assists double-double in Friday's 87-73 win at Milwaukee, contributing 21 points and eight assists. The 21-point showing marked the seventh time this season in which he eclipsed the 20-point plateau. The Lexington, Kentucky, native chipped in another 16 points in Saturday's 79-65 win.
Across the weekend, Warrick averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals.
Warrick is rapidly ascending the Horizon League charts for most weekly honors by a freshman. Despite playing in a season shortened due to COVID-19, his six weekly freshman awards are tied for the sixth-most in league history.
NKU continues its four-game road swing through The Badger State with a pair of matchups against Green Bay on Feb. 12-13. Both games are set for a 5 p.m. (ET)/4 p.m. (CT) tip.
