CARBONDALE, Ill. – Northern Kentucky softball fell to Saint Louis, 5-2, on its final day of the Saluki Invitational. The loss comes a day after the two teams last met, when NKU won 6-5. The Norse move to 1-7 on the year and the Billikens pick up their first win, improving to 1-6.

- Caitlin Karo picked up her second start of the weekend and her third of the season.
- During the 3.0 innings she pitched, Karo allowed four runs on eight hits, and also walked two batters.
- Karo was subbed out during the fourth inning for Faith Howard.
- Howard pitched four innings and faced sixteen batters.
- She gave up a single run off three hits and was able to send three batters back to the dugout by way of strikeout.
Scoring Summary
- Saint Louis scored the first run of the game after a throwing error by the Norse in the top of the first.
- The Billikens added another run two batters later, this time on a single through the left side.
- Saint Louis added a single run in each of the next two innings. The runs came from an RBI double to left field and an RBI single to right.
- After being held scoreless in the first three innings, the Norse were able to break the scoring drought as Whitmer drove Lawson home on an RBI single to left.
- In the top of the fifth inning, the Billikens scored a run on a groundout to extend their lead to four at 5-1.
- NKU scored its second run of the match in the seventh inning when McKeough flied out to center field, scoring Frazier.
- The Norse were able to force a bases loaded situation in the bottom half of the seventh with singles from Frazier, LeMonier and Lawson. McKeough plated Frazier on a sacrifice fly. Whitmer then loaded the bases for a second time when she was hit by a pitch, but NKU fell short as SLU induced a game-ending groundout.

Northern Kentucky returns home for its home opener and begins league play with a pair of double-headers against Green Bay on March 12 and 13. The first matchup of each double-header will begin at noon.
