Highland Heights, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's tennis will compete against the Penguins of Youngstown State April 24-25 at the Lindner Tennis Center at Lunken in Cincinnati.
NKU is coming off a tough weekend deficit at Cleveland State, losing Saturday 7-0 and Sunday 5-2. On Saturday, the Norse went 1-2 in doubles, with Horizon League doubles team of the week
Emilien Burnel and
Andrew Niehaus defeating their opponents 7-5. On Sunday, all doubles points went to the Vikings, but
Jorge Rodriguez (No. 4) and
Santiago Casamayor (No. 5) picked up singles points. Rodriguez defeated his opponent 6-3, 3-0, and Casamayor won 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (14-12). The Norse are 8-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
The Penguins currently sit at 11-7 overall, and 4-2 in conference play. Their last set of games were against Cleveland State, losing both matches 6-1. YSU was tabbed to finish second in the Horizon League preseason poll.
In the last meeting between the two teams on April 12, 2019, the Penguins defeated the Norse 5-2.
