HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's basketball head coach
Darrin Horn announces the addition of center Imanuel Zorgvol, as the 7-footer has signed with the Norse for the 2021-22 season.
"Imanuel is a special mover with great size and length," said Horn. "He will fit perfectly with our style of play, impacting the game as a rim protector and finisher. He has made tremendous strides in just two years of playing organized basketball, and we are confident there is still much room for growth and development physically and as a player."
Zorgvol prepped for Central Florida Christian Academy in Orlando, Florida, where he helped lead the Eagles to back-to-back Florida Class 2A Regional Finals runner-up finishes. As a senior, Zorgvol averaged 10.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. He also made 64 percent of his attempts during the year. The native of Paramaribo, Suriname, a small country on the northeastern coast of South America, also competes for Team Orlando.
Zorgvol, Isaiah Mason and Sam Vinson comprise Northern Kentucky's incoming freshman class. The Norse are also adding the services of transfers Chris Brandon (Detroit Mercy) and Seybian Sims (North Dakota) for the 2021-22 campaign.
In the last five seasons, Northern Kentucky has claimed two Horizon League regular-season titles, three league tournament championships and has made at least the semifinal of the conference tournament the last three years. During the five-year span, NKU has qualified for three NCAA Tournaments and one NIT.
