HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's basketball's 2021-22 schedule is beginning to take shape as the team announces its first home contest of the upcoming season. The Norse welcome UNC Greensboro to BB&T Arena on Friday, Nov. 12.
UNCG is the reigning SOCON regular-season and tournament champion and is coming off of a first round appearance in the NCAA Tournament, where it fell 64-54 to Florida State. The Spartans finished the campaign with a 21-9 mark. Mike Jones enters his first season as the Spartans' head coach. He takes over the reins after spending the previous 10 seasons at Radford, where he led the Highlanders to the Big South championship and NCAA Tournament in 2018.
Northern Kentucky is coming off of a 14-11 record last year. The Norse went 11-7 in the Horizon League, finishing fourth in the regular-season standings and reaching the semifinals of the league tournament. The Norse have finished no worse than fourth in the final Horizon League regular-season standings each of the last five years and reached the tournament semifinals three years in a row, serving as the only league team to achieve either of those feats.
Led by All-Horizon League Second Team performer
Trevon Faulkner as well as Horizon League Freshman of the Year, Third Team and All-Freshman Team honoree
Marques Warrick, NKU returns an astounding 85 percent of its minutes played, 91 percent of points scored and 87 percent of its rebounding from last year.
