Darrin Horn announces that Hubertas Pivorius will join the Norse for the upcoming 2021-22 season. Pivorius joins
Isaiah Mason,
Sam Vinson and
Imanuel Zorgvol comprising NKU's freshman class.
"Hubie brings us shooting and great basketball experience for his age, having competed and produced on the biggest stage in FIBA competition," said Horn. "He is a fierce competitor with high character who we are confident will continue to expand his game and grow as a player.
A native of Vilnius, Lithuania, Pivorius has experience on both the high school prep scene in the United States as well as at the international level as a member of Lithuania's U19 and U16 National Teams.
As a senior at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, the shooting guard helped the Explorers to a 16-8 record, averaging 18 points per game on the strength of 43 percent 3-point shooting. The long-range threat made 80 treys on the season. During his junior campaign at Christopher Columbus, Pivorius averaged 15 ppg.
In international competition as a member of the Lithuanian U19 National Team at the U19 World Championships, Pivorius averaged 8.4 points, two assists and two rebounds per game while making 40 percent of his threes (15-of-38). Lithuania placed sixth. He was also a member of the Lithuanian National Team that competed at the 2018 U16 European Championships.
Pivorius and the rest of NKU's four-man freshman class are also joined by newcomers
Chris Brandon and
Seybian Sims. The juniors transferred to NKU after respectively competing for Detroit Mercy and North Dakota last year. The six newcomers join a squad that returns 91 percent of its scoring from a season ago, including double-figure scorers
Trevon Faulkner (16.7 ppg),
Marques Warrick (15.8) and
Bryson Langdon (10.7).
