HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Despite surrendering two first-half goals, the Northern Kentucky women's soccer (0-1) team battled back and challenged for the equalizer in the second half, but ultimately dropped a 2-1 decision to Cincinnati (1-0) in the Riverboat Rivalry.

Scoring
- Cincinnati struck first when Vanessa DiNardo cleaned up Kendall Battle's attempt that was saved by Mimi Stines in the 10'.
- UC scored again just two minutes later on Lauren Bastian's strike.
- Annie Green scored for Northern Kentucky in the 72nd-minute from the penalty spot. Chloe Mills drew a foul in the box off of a Norse corner, setting up the PK.
Between the Posts
- Stines faced 12 total shots, including four that were on target. She allowed both goals and picked up a pair of saves in the loss.
- Anna Rexford picked up the win for UC, registering a pair of saves in three Norse shots on frame.
Match Summary
- Cincinnati controlled the ball and pace early on, attempting the first five shots of the match.
- Stines used quick reflexes to punch Battle's attempt up off the crossbar, but DiNardo was there to tap it home for the first score.
- UC then tallied the second goal in the 12' after the Norse attempted to clear a ball from the box. Bastian grabbed the loose ball and struck to the right side of the goal.
- Ashleigh Cronin provided NKU with its first attempt in the 22', but it was blocked.
- Sofia Wilmes also got off a shot 11 minutes later, but her attempt was also thwarted.
- NKU put the pressure on in the second half, earning three corner kicks and outshooting UC, 5-4.
- The Norse had the better opportunities in its second-half shooting advantage as well.
- Wilmes had a shot saved in the 55th-minute.
- Allison King provided a lift off the bench and challenged UC's defense in the 71st. King's efforts helped lead to Mills being fouled and Greene finding pay dirt from the PK spot.
- Greene threatened a second time, but her 86th-minute shot was saved.
Norse Notes
- After being outshot 8-2 in the first half, the Norse outshot the Bearcats 5-4 in the second.
- Stines entered the match riding a 820:47-minute scoreless streak and extended it another 9:42 to 830:29 before giving up the first goal.
- Greene matched her goal total from last season. She scored against Wright State last year, now giving her two goals in the last four matches.
