HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky women's soccer program put up another hard fought 90 minutes of play but visiting Youngstown State was able to escape with a 1-0 Horizon League victory as the Norse celebrated their Pink Game at NKU Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

INSIDE THE NORSE BOX SCORE
- Emma McSwigan led NKU with two shots on goal in 32 minutes of play. Lydia Self and Sofia Wilmes also added a shot on target.
- Mimi Stines and Mickayla Kowalski split the match in goal and each recorded one save in the contest.
- NKU led YSU in both attempted shots (11-7) and shots on goal (4-3). It is the third straight game that the Norse have reached double-digit in shots.
- The defeat ended a run of 1-0-1 over the past two matches at home for the Norse.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern Kentucky came out fast after kickoff and led Youngstown State by a 7-4 margin in shots in the opening half.
- YSU was able to take advantage of its lone strong chance of the first as Spindola found the back of the net in the 17th-minute to give the Penguins a 1-0 lead.
- Despite more NKU pressure to end the half, the score would remain 1-0 heading into the second.
- The Norse once outshot the Penguins in the second half, but the home team couldn't get anything across the line as Youngstown State picked up the Horizon victory.
 
FOR THE FOES
- Elis Klein Spindola found the back of the net for the Penguins, the second straight game that the sophomore forward has scored.
- Brooklynn Kirkpatrick notched her fifth clean sheet of the season after she posted four saves.
- Youngstown State has now won two contests in a row.
