MOON TOWNSHIP, Penn. – Northern Kentucky volleyball remained on fire heading to the final regular season contest of the year, as the Norse swept right through Colonials of Robert Morris Saturday afternoon.
Northern Kentucky (17-12, 15-3 Horizon) cemented their overall and conference records with the win over Robert Morris (9-21, 2-16 Horizon), to lock down the number two seed in the upcoming Horizon League Championship Tournament. NKU posted an 11-3 scoring run in the opening to provide enough separation for the eventual set victory at 25-16. The Norse saw offensive production throughout this run from
Anna Brinkmann,
Reilly Briggs and
Abby Kanakry to overpower RMU. While set number two was a bit tighter than the Norse wanted, a late kill from
Joy Banks ignited NKU to a 3-0 run to take the set at 25-22 overall. The final set of this match was a collective team effort by NKU, hitting .455 overall while limiting Robert Morris to hit just .043, which saw the Norse capture the set at 25-13 and complete the sweep.
