Men’s Basketball knocks off rival Wright State to remain perfect in #HLMBB play

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's basketball program took over first place in the Horizon League as the Norse knocked off rival Wright State in a 78-64 win inside the friendly confines of Truist Arena on Thursday night, in front of nearly 4,000 members of Norse Nation.
 
With the victory, Northern Kentucky is the only undefeated team remaining in the Horizon, with a perfect mark of 3-0 in conference play.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Marques Warrick paced the Norse with 19 points to go with two rebounds, two assists and a steal. The standout junior has now reached double-digit scoring in 12 of 14 games so far this season, which includes a run of three-straight 18-plus point contests. Warrick has notched 1,206 career points in less than three seasons at NKU, a mark that moved him into 23rd all-time in school history in scoring. He sits just two back of Mike Hofmeyer for 22nd overall (1,208 career points).
- Chris Brandon made his presence felt in the paint in a big way as he pulled down a game-best 14 rebounds along with 12 points, two assists and two blocks. It was his third double-double of the season along with being his seventh game with double-digit boards.
- Sam Vinson added 11 points, five boards, five helpers and two steals. It is his ninth game so far this year with two or more steals. The local product has posted two or more steals in seven straight games.
- Trevon Faulkner made it four Norse in double-digits with 12 points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal.
- Trey Robinson chipped in a team-best four assists and three steals along with eight points.
- Imanuel Zorgvol was second on the Norse with six rebounds. He also scored four points on a 2-of-3 night from the field.
- The Norse improved to 4-1 on the year when four student-athletes hit double-digits in scoring.
- NKU is also 4-0 overall when the Norse score 70 or more points.
- Northern Kentucky is now 3-0 in Horizon League action, its best start in conference play to begin a season since the Norse went 4-0 in the Horizon to kick off the 2017-18 campaign.
