HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's basketball team was taken down inside BB&T Arena Saturday afternoon by IUPUI, 78-53. The Norse drop to 17-6 overall this season, and 11-5 in Horizon League play. The Jaguars improve to 18-5 this year, and are currently 15-3 in conference action.
STATS LEADERS
- Ivy Turner led NKU in scoring today with 17 points while shooting 7-for-14 from the floor. She totaled one steal and one assist as well.
- Grayson Rose was the top rebounder for the Norse with eight today. Rose added six points, one assist and one steal to her stat line.
- Emmy Souder and Kailie Davis each finished the day with nine points each.
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
- IUPUI began this game hot with a 12-2 scoring run over 3:36 minutes midway through the first quarter.
- Rose found her stroke from beyond the arc, hitting multiple three-pointers to cut the Jags lead to just 30-27.
- The Jaguars kept pace with NKU's comeback attempts, as a driving layup fell for IUPUI to put the score right back at 32-27 at the media break.
- IUPUI posted an 11-0 scoring run late in the second quarter over four minutes of play to take a 41-27 lead over the Norse.
- The Jaguars ended the first half shooting over 50 percent in the second quarter, compared to the Norse at 38.5 percent.
SECOND HALF SUMMARY
- The IUPUI momentum carried over to begin the 3rd period, as the Jags built upon their run out to 18-3 over 6:30 total minutes.
- The Norse generated a quick 5-0 run in less than a minute as Khamari Mitchell-Steen and Souder recorded points for the home squad.
- The Jaguars countered back with a 10-2 run of their own, additionally holding NKU shooting 1-for-5 from the floor midway through the third.
- The Norse were held to just 11 points in the third quarter, as IUPUI posted 20 total to hold a 61-38 lead heading into the fourth.
- IUPUI controlled the fourth quarter from start to finish, defeating NKU 78-53 by the final buzzer.
GAME NOTES
- IUPUI shot 57.7 percent (30-for-52) during today's contest, where as the Norse finished the game shooting 35.6 percent.
- The Jaguars currently sit in first place in the Horizon League standings and Northern Kentucky remains in fifth as well.
- Turner's 17 points today was her 18th game scoring in double-figures this season.

Northern Kentucky will hit the road in their next game, as the Norse travel north to take on Youngstown State in Horizon League action. This conference matchup will take place on Friday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. (ET).
