@NKUNorseBSB falls to ETSU in game two of series

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Northern Kentucky Baseball team (0-2, 0-0 Horizon League) was defeated by East Tennessee State (2-0, 0-0 SOCON) Saturday afternoon in game number two of this series at Thomas Stadium. 

AT THE PLATE 

  • Manny Vorhees belted his first homer in a Norse uniform for his sole hit of the day. Vorhees tacked on 2 RBI and 1 run scored as well.
  • Treyvin Moss drove in a run on the day as well going 1-for-4 with a double.
  • Liam McFadden-Ackman tallied an RBI after hitting 1-for-3 this afternoon for the Norse. 
     

ON THE MOUND 

  • Ben Gerl (L, 0-1) got the day two start for NKU, throwing 3.2 innings allowing four earned runs and totaling three strikeouts after facing 23 batters. 
  • Kaden Echeman came on in relief of Gerl to throw 1.2 innings and allowed three earned runs while striking out one Buc. 
  • Andrew Mulhern, Tyler Ollier and Tyler Murphy all posted relief appearances for NKU today. All three finished with one earned run allowed and one strikeout. 
     

AROUND THE HORN

  • ETSU jumped on the scoreboard first again in this series, totaling four runs through three innings. 
  • The Norse cut the Bucs' lead in half to 4-2 in the fourth after a Vorhees two-run shot to left center that also brought home Jayden Wakeham.
  • Moss drove in a run after grounding out to second base in the top of the fifth, as Noah Fisher crossed the plate to put the score at 6-4 in favor of ETSU. 
  • The Bucs' offensive attack was just too much for NKU however down the stretch, with ETSU extending their lead out to 12-4 through the final inning. 
     

UP NEXT 

  • The Norse wrap up this three-game road series against East Tennessee State tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 20, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. (ET).
