INDIANAPOLIS - The Horizon League on Saturday revealed the bracket for the 2022 Keeps Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship, which culminates March 7-8 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Cleveland State and Purdue Fort Wayne claimed a share of the regular season title on Saturday as the Vikings earned the No. 1 seed, while the Mastodons will be the No. 2 seed for the #HLMBB Championship. Both teams ended the season with 15-6 records during conference play, but the Vikings won two out of three games over the 'Dons to nab the top seed for the second straight season.
Purdue Fort Wayne secured its first regular-season title in only its second season of competition in the Horizon League. Cleveland State shares the regular-season title for the second consecutive year.
Northern Kentucky clinched the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye for the second straight season after finishing the league season with a 14-6 record. The Norse enter the tournament with wins in 12 of their last 14 games.
Wright State earned the fourth and final home quarterfinal game with a weekend sweep at the Nutter Center. The Raiders tied the lead for most league wins with 15.
The top four seeds earn a bye to the quarterfinals and a home game on Thursday, March 3. The quarterfinal round winners advance to the semifinals March 7 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
First-round action starts Tuesday with these games: No. 5 Oakland hosts No. 12 IUPUI, No. 6 Detroit Mercy welcomes No. 11 Green Bay, No. 7 seed Youngstown State faces No. 10 RMU and No. 8 UIC travels to No. 9 seed Milwaukee. Although the Flames are the higher seed, UIC waived its right to host all League championship events for the remainder of the 2022 winter and spring championships.
