@NKUNorseBSB downed in tight battle at Butler

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky Baseball team (13-21) was taken down in a nonconference bout on the road against the Bulldogs of Butler (17-20) by a final score of 6-5.
 
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
Butler opened up this nonconference tilt with a 3-0 spot on NKU after scoring on a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly and a double. 
 
The Norse bounced back with a solo homer from Brennan Gick to right field in the top of the second inning.
 
NKU cut the lead to just 3-2 in the top of the third after a Ryan Glass single through the left side of the field to bring home Treyvin Moss. The Bulldogs extended their lead back out to 5-2 with a pair of runs scored in the bottom half of the third inning.

Northern Kentucky cut into that Butler lead in the fourth after a Lucas Gulczynski two-run single to left center field. NKU then tied up the game at 5-5 overall in the top of the sixth with a Manny Vorhees sac fly to right field to bring home Liam McFadden-Ackman

Butler managed to reclaim the lead in the seventh inning on an RBI single through the right side of the field which proved to be the game-winner at 6-5 by the final out. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Ryan Glass extended his hitting streak out to 8 games with a single in the 1st. Glass went on to finish 2-for-5 on the day with 1 RBI.
Liam McFadden-Ackman went 2-for-3 in this game with 2 runs scored and 1 walk. 
Lucas Gulczynski turned in a solid performance with a 2-for-4 outing with 2 RBI and 1 stolen base. 
Brennan Gick continues to lead the Norse in home runs after belting his 8th of the year today. Gick has also reached base safely in 11 straight games. 

The Norse saw a total of eight pitchers get work in today, which included Drew Switzer, TJ Graves, Tyler Murphy, Kaden Echeman, Michael Bohlen, Zach Haigis, Bryson Lonsbury (L, 3-1) and Ben Gerl

Northern Kentucky Baseball is back in action next on Friday, April 22 as the Norse make the road trip north to Fort Wayne, Indiana to face PFW in a doubleheader. Game one between the Norse and Mastodons is set for a 12 p.m. (ET) start.
