@NKUNorseBSB taken to extra innings by UIC, beat Flames 3-2

DAYTON, Ohio – The No. 6 seeded Northern Kentucky Baseball program (19-33) knocked off No. 3 seed UIC (22-25) Wednesday evening from Nischwitz Stadium in an extra inning battle where the Norse took the game at 3-2 overall.

KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
  • Illinois-Chicago got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly out to left field to bring home the runner from third base.
  • The Norse tied up the game in the top of the sixth with a solo homer from Noah Fisher to left field as the senior continued to anchor the NKU offense.
  • Northern Kentucky took a 2-1 lead over the Flames in the top of the eighth after a Ryan Glass single to center field brought home Treyvin Moss for the go-ahead run.
  • UIC was threatening in the bottom of the ninth, as a single to left field saw a Flames base runner round third and headed for home, but Brennan Gick provided an perfect throw to home plate, and Zack Minton applied the tag to see this game head to extra innings.

  • Bryson Lonsbury was locked in during the final inning of this matchup, as he went on to strikeout the side and help the Norse advance to day two of the Horizon League Championship.
