Tyler Janota named one of the most impactful strength coaches in NCAA DI

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky's Tyler Janota was named one of the most impactful strength and conditioning coaches in all of NCAA Division I athletics, regardless of sport, by Silver Waves Media.

The list was produced after consulting with numerous athletic directors, coaches, and a panel of sport professionals across the nation that selected just 50 active NCAA DI coaches for the distinguished honor.

"I am thankful to be included on a list that includes so many of the men and women in my field that I respect and that have influenced me greatly throughout my career," Janota said. "All credit for my inclusion goes to the student-athletes that I have been fortunate enough to work with at Northern Kentucky and beyond."

Janota was named the Head of Men's Basketball Sports Performance at NKU in June 2021, following stops at East Tennessee State University and the University of Texas. He oversees all training, dietary demands and recovery requirements for the Norse.

In his first year at Northern Kentucky, the Norse posted a 20-12 record overall and a 14-6 mark in Horizon League play in their run to the conference championship game. NKU also saw Sam Vinson selected as the Horizon Freshman of the Year to go with All-Freshman Team honors, while Marques Warrick was named to the All-League Second Team.

The Goliad, Texas native assisted in the physical development of NBA Lottery selections Jaxson Hayes and Mohamed Bamba and was a part of the Longhorn's NCAA Tournament team in 2018 and NIT Tournament Champion squad in 2019.

Janota also has experience as an assistant strength and condition coach at Lamar University and as a graduate assistant at Belmont University.
