WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Northern Kentucky volleyball began the Stacey Clark Classic Thursday evening in a nonconference match against host school No. 10 Purdue University.
The Norse (1-9, 0-0 Horizon) were swept by the Boilermakers (8-1, 0-0 Big Ten) by final set scores of 17-25, 23-25 and 12-25. NKU found themselves down early in the opening set at 11-3. An 8-1 scoring run from Northern Kentucky put the Norse behind Purdue at 14-13, as a pair of service aces from Torie Houston and multiple kills from Abby Kanakry fueled this comeback. The Boilermakers ultimately took set one at 25-17. The Norse came out swinging in set number two, holding down leads of 7-3 and 9-4 at various points. Purdue mounted a comeback with multiple scoring runs and clipped NKU at 25-23 by the final point.
