Men’s Basketball drops heartbreaker in first #HLMBB loss of the season

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. –
The Northern Kentucky men's basketball program suffered a heartbreaker in the program's first loss of the Horizon League season with a 64-63 setback to conference foe Oakland inside Truist Arena on Friday night.
 
Even with the defeat, NKU remains atop the Horizon, tied for first overall with Milwaukee at 4-1 in conference play.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Marques Warrick once again led the way for the Norse with 16 points on the night to go with four assists, three rebounds and two steals. It is the fifth-straight game Warrick has reached double-digits in scoring and the 14th such occurrence so far this season. The standout junior has now scored 1,237 career points (in just 73 games played), moving him into 21st all-time in NKU school history in scoring. He trails Lavone Holland II by just 13 points to move into the top-20 all-time.
- Trey Robinson chipped in a season-best 11 points along with two boards, a block and a steal.
- Sam Vinson notched a career-best nine assists and added eight points and a game-best four steals.
- Trevon Faulkner (seven points, one assist, one steal) and Imanuel Zorgvol (four points, seven boards, one block and a steal in just 15 minutes) provided solid play off the bench.
- Xavier Rhodes (six points, two rebounds), Chris Brandon (four points, six rebounds), A'lahn Sumler (five points) and LJ Wells (two points) also contributed for the Norse.
- The setback snaps an eight-game winning streak at Truist for the Norse and NKU's NCAA Division I era tying-record, four-game winning streak in conference play to begin a season.
