MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Every point matters for the Northern Kentucky women's soccer program and the Norse kept it rolling with their third straight win, a 1-0 victory over host Robert Morris in a Horizon League contest at the North Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon.
With the result, NKU stayed right in the thick of the race for the Horizon postseason tournament as the Norse moved into a tie for fourth overall with 12 points. If the season ended today, the Norse would be postseason bound as the No. 6 seed in the tournament after tiebreakers.
Northern Kentucky has just two matches left in the regular season: Senior Day against Detroit on Saturday, October 21 and a showdown on the road in the regular season-finale against rival Wright State on Wednesday, October 25.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Norse took the lead right before the end of the opening half in the 40th-minute as
Shannon Crogan chased down a perfect passing play by
Emma McSwigan and
Lilly Yordy and beat the keeper to give Northern Kentucky the 1-0 lead. It was Crogan's first goal of the season and the first goal of her collegiate career. Yordy posted her team-leading fifth assist of the year while McSwigan added her first helper of the season.
- Overall, the Norse went into the half with the lead on the scoreboard and on the field. NKU held an edge in both shots (12 to 4) and corner kicks (3 to 2) in the opening 45 minutes of action. Both sides finished the first half with two shots on target.
- The second half was a much more even battle as Robert Morris out shot Northern Kentucky (8 to 6) and posted more shots on goal (4 tp 2). The Norse completely took over possession at the end of the match however, which included keeping the ball in RMU's corner for the last five minutes of the contest to close out the 1-0 win.
-
Mickayla Kowalski posted her Horizon-leading seventh shut out of the season after she turned aside six Colonials shots in the victory. The standout senior is also ranked first in the conference in goals against average (.820) and second in save percentage (.829). To go with today's showing, Kowalski moved into a tie for fifth all-time for most clean sheets in a single-season in school history.
