HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day in style as the Norse won their fourth consecutive match with a victory over Horizon League foe Detroit Mercy, 3-1, in a conference clash at NKU Soccer Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
With the result, Northern Kentucky improved to third in the Horizon with 15 points at 4-2-3 overall. It is the first time the Norse have won four straight Horizon matches since NKU went on a six-game conference winning streak during the 2021 campaign.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Detroit Mercy started the match off with a quick goal as the Titans took the 1-0 lead in the 10th-minute.
- It took less than 30 seconds before a NKU freshman made their mark on Senior Day as
Natalie Newman found the back of the net in the 11th-minute, her second off the season, off assists from
Kylie Anderson and
Erykah Cornett to tie things up at 1-1. The Norse went on a rush right away after the UDM goal and Newman finished it off to tie the contest.
- Northern Kentucky struck again the in the 37th-minute as sophomore
Shannon Crogan buried her chance into the far corner as the Norse jumped ahead 2-1. It was Crogan's second tally of the season as she was set up by
Lilly Yordy and
Megan Molner.
- NKU got its insurance goal in the 57th-minute as
Lydia Self headed home a perfect set up by Yordy to make it a 3-1 contest.
- The Norse shut it down over the final 30-plus minutes of the match to seal the 3-1 victory.
- With her two helpers, Yordy has now posted a team-best seven assists on the season, a mark that ranks second in the Horizon and tied for 32nd in all of NCAA Division I soccer.
- Senior keeper
Mickayla Kowalski made four saves for her seventh win of the year between the pipes.
- Northern Kentucky finished the game with an edge in shots (13 to 8) and corners (7 to 6).
