Women’s Soccer draws with Wright State in regular season finale; hosts HL Quarterfinals on Sunday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer program ended its 2023 regular season with its most important result of the year with a 0-0 draw against rival Wright State in a conference clash at Alumni Field on Thursday evening. With the decision, NKU clinched the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Horizon League Tournament and will host Detroit Mercy on Sunday afternoon in Highland Heights.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Mickayla Kowalski made four saves overall, which included a diving stop in the 76th-minute, to record her Horizon League leading eighth shutout of the season. The Harrison, Ohio native finished the regular season as the conference leader in clean sheets and goals against average (.782) and ranked second in save percentage (.835). Her eight shutouts also slot in at fifth all-time for most in school history by a student-athlete during a single season. - Lydia Self, Kylie Anderson and Erykah Cornett each posted a shot on target for the Norse.
- The Raiders finished the match with a slight edge in shots (16 to 11), shots on target (4 to 3) and corner kicks (also 4 to 3).
- The Norse return to the Horizon League Tournament for the first time since 2021 and the eighth time in program history. Northern Kentucky has won the Horizon League Championship and advanced to the NCAA National Championships one time so far in school history, a feat the Norse accomplished back in 2016.
 
NEXT UP
The Norse return home to bring championship season to Highland Heights as NKU and Detroit Mercy are set to clash in the Horizon League Quarterfinals on Sunday, October 29 at NKU Soccer Stadium. First kick is set for 1 PM ET and ticket information will be made available to the public on Thursday, October 26.
 
For those unable to attend, the match will also be streamed in front of a national audience on ESPN+.
 
The Norse and Titans just met on NKU's Senior Day, a 3-1 victory for Northern Kentucky, back on Saturday, October 21 at NKU Soccer Stadium. NKU is 8-1-1 against Detroit Mercy all-time, which includes a mark of 3-0-1 in Highland Heights.
