GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer program's offense broke out in a big way as the Norse posted a decisive 4-1 victory on the road over Horizon League foe Green Bay at Aldo Santaga Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
With the win, NKU picked up its first Horizon victory of the season and moved into a tie for sixth overall in the conference with six points.
The four goals were the most scored in a match by the Norse since NKU dropped six on Purdue Fort Wayne back on October 7, 2021 in Highland Heights.

Maria Wiefering got the Norse on the board right away in the third minute as she headed the corner kick from
Lilly Yordy past the keeper and into the top of the net to give NKU a quick 1-0 lead.

Sofia Wilmes struck again for Northern Kentucky just 10 minutes later as she took a bouncing ball and buried it into the top corner of the net from just a step inside the box as NKU jumped ahead 2-0.

Erykah Cornett made it three first half goals for the Norse as she found herself in the perfect spot at the perfect time. A loose ball came to her off a throw in and she cashed in on her close-range opportunity to make it 3-0, Northern Kentucky.
- Cornett finished off the brace with another goal in the 65th-minute. Yordy sent a beautiful cross to the far post, where Cornett crashed and was located perfectly, and the freshman tapped it home to make it 4-0 NKU.
- Green Bay was able to put a goal in at the 73rd-minute, but by then the damage was already done as Northern Kentucky picked up the crucial Horizon League victory.

Mickayla Kowalski and
Megan Gessner combined for the win in goal. Gessner posted one save in 13 minutes of action.
- NKU finished with 19 total shots and 15 shots on target in the match. It was the most shots on net for the Norse in a contest this season and the second most shot attempts in a match so far this year. The 15 shots on target were also the most for a NKU squad since the Norse posted 19 against Eastern Illinois University all the way back on August 23, 2015.
