Sheehan gets career win No. 350 as Women’s Soccer blanks Cleveland State

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer program is back to its winning ways at the perfect time as the Norse blanked Cleveland State 1-0 in a Horizon League clash on Sunday afternoon at the NKU Soccer Stadium. The win was a special one for head coach Bob Sheehan, who picked up victory No. 350 of his career, along with seeing his squad stay firmly in the race for the conference postseason.

Sheehan became the 59th head coach in NCAA history to reach the 350-career win milestone. He is also now ranked 37th all-time in career victories among active NCAA coaches.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Northern Kentucky dominated the first half of play, but neither the Norse nor the Vikings could find the back of the net. NKU held a heavy edge in shots (9 to 2), shots on target (2 to 0) and corner kicks (7 to 0) after 45 minutes of action.
- It didn't take long for the Norse to take the lead in the second half as Kylie Anderson headed home a perfect feed from Lilly Yordy to give NKU the 1-0 edge in the 47th-minute. It was Anderson's fourth goal of the season and Yordy's fourth helper so far this year. - NKU kept the pressure on through the rest of the contest, as Cleveland State was only able to manage one shot on goal from long range in the 85th-minute.
- Mickayla Kowalski posted one save between the pipes to record her Horizon League leading sixth shutout of the season.
- Northern Kentucky dominated in total shots (20 to 3), shots on target (7 to 1) and corners (10 to 0). It was the second straight match that NKU recorded 19-plus shots.
- Today's 20 attempted shots also tied the season best for the Norse, matching their total against Bellarmine back on August 20.
- With the victory, Northern Kentucky jumped into a tie for fifth in the conference standings. If the season ended today, NKU would occupy the final postseason spot for the upcoming Horizon League tournament.
- It was also the second straight victory for the Norse after NKU knocked off Green Bay 4-1 on Thursday.

CELEBRATING 350 NEXT UP
The Norse will get a short breather before returning with a conference showdown against Robert Morris, set for Sunday, October 15. The match will get underway at 1 PM ET from the North Athletic Complex in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
