HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's basketball program has completed its 2023-24 schedule with a final addition to the slate. The Norse have announced a showdown with top-seeded NCAA Tournament team Saint Mary's, set for Thursday, December 21 in Moraga, California at the 3,500-seat UCU Pavilion.
 
Tip is set for 7 PM PT.
 
It will be the first meeting between the Norse and Gaels all-time in school history and the addition completes the toughest non-conference schedule in NKU's history.
 
Northern Kentucky is fresh off a Horizon League Championship and the program's fourth bid to the NCAA Tournament in the past seven years after the Norse posted a 22-13 record overall in 2022-23. To go with the return of NKU's big three in Marques Warrick, Sam Vinson and Trey Robinson, the Norse went out and added a plethora of talent in both the transfer portal and from the high school ranks for a squad that will be one of the favorites in the Horizon once again this upcoming season.
 
The Gaels are coming off a 27-8 campaign in 2022-23 that included a run to the West Coast Conference Championship. Saint Mary's was named a No. 5 seed for the NCAA Tournament and went on to knock off VCU in convincing fashion in the opening round. The Gaels were then knocked off by eventual national champion UCONN in the round of 32.
 
Saint Mary's also earned a share of the WCC regular season Championship with Gonzaga and returns a total of 12 student-athletes (and three starters) from last year's roster.
