Norse Baseball Clips Golden Grizzlies For Series Win

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky baseball program captured the series over the Golden Grizzlies with a 7-6 win Saturday afternoon from the Bill Aker Baseball Complex.

NORSE TOP PERFORMERS

NORSE NOTES 
  • Gerl was dealing once again on the mound, earning his second straight victory to improve to 4-3 overall this season. Gerl also only allowed one earned run against Oakland in this outing, which lowers his season earned run average down to 3.62. 
  • Maniglia picked up his fourth save of the season, shutting down the Golden Grizzlies in the top of the ninth inning. Maniglia's fourth save of the season ranks second in the Horizon League and leads the Norse in ERA at 2.70 as well. 
  • Northern Kentucky never trailed in game number two against Oakland, as the Norse jumped out ahead to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The bats of Vorhees, Fisher and McFadden-Ackman stayed hot as all drove in runs at various points today, including a triple from Vorhees in the first. NKU kept the drama level high in the top of the ninth, as Maniglia got the Oakland batter to ground into a double play that ended the game in favor of the Norse.
