HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky baseball program found themselves in a slugfest with the Mastodons of Purdue Fort Wayne, coming out on top over their Horizon League adversary from Friendship Field Saturday afternoon by final score of 23-15.

NORSE NOTES /// HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern Kentucky jumped on the scoreboard first with a pair of runs scored in the bottom of the first inning as back-to-back wild pitches brought home a couple runs for the home squad.
- Purdue Fort Wayne took a 3-2 lead with a home run to center field in the top of the third inning, but the Norse answered back with a run in the bottom half of the inning. NKU followed up with a two-run blast to right field by Wimmers to even things up at 5-5 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Vorhees then gave the Norse the lead with a two-run double to left field for a 7-5 advantage.
- NKU built a 9-5 lead heading to the sixth, but the 'Dons rallied right back, ultimately tying the game at 9-9 overall with a two-run home run to left field.
- The Norse broke this game wide open in the bottom of the sixth after posting a 10 run inning to increase the lead out to 19-9 over PFW. Both programs continued to score throughout the remainder of this game, ending in a Norse win at 23-15 overall.

The 23 runs scored by NKU today is just the second highest of the season, as the Norse posted 27 total runs earlier this year against the Broncos of Western Michigan.
- Fisher continues his campaign for Horizon League Player of the Year, as he now leads the conference in slugging percentage (.736), OPS (1.246), runs scored (50), RBI (56), home runs (13) and walks (37).
- Northern Kentucky has now hit the 25 overall win mark this season, which ties the NKU Norse program record for wins in the NCAA Division I era dating back to 2017 (25-33).
