Track & Field advances six more to final round as school records fall on the second day of the Horizon League Outdoor Championships

SATURDAY'S RESULTS & SUNDAY'S SCHEDULE
 
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky track & field program continued its stellar showing at the 2023 Horizon League Outdoor Championships with a second day of competition that featured six more championship round appearances for NKU, two school records and numerous personal and freshman record performances.
 
THE BASICS
MEET: 2023 Horizon League Outdoor Championships (Day Two)
LOCATION: Youngstown State University – Youngstown, Ohio
 
NOTABLES
- Meredith Goff pulled off the double as she advanced to the championship round in both the women's 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. She set a personal record, NKU freshmen record and school record with a 11.96 to place seventh overall in the preliminary round of the 100. The Milford, Ohio native then followed it up with another personal best, freshmen best and school best 24.27 to claim fourth in the 200. She is one of just two freshmen student-athletes in the Horizon League to advance in both the 100 and 200 events.
- The Norse put another two through to the final round as both Megan Sullivan and Sierra Kendall made it to the championships of the women's 400-meter hurdles. Sullivan won her heat and took third overall in the prelims with a 1:02.48 performance. Kendall was right behind in fourth with a time of 1:02.81. Kendall improved her personal best by almost two seconds as she also set a NKU freshmen record in the event.
- Olivia Kennedy made it through in the women's 800-meter with an impressive 2:14.99 performance that placed fourth overall in the preliminary round.
- Erika Nageleisen also moved on to Sunday as she advanced to the final round of the women's 400-meter dash after she dropped a personal best of 57.32 to claim eighth in the prelims.
- Kierra Morris scored three points for the NKU women's squad after she took sixth overall with a best leap of 5.60-meters in the long jump championship round.
- Senior Kyle Mastin came in ninth in the final round of the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a mark of 9:29.61.
- Thomas Gray-Torell set a big personal best in the men's 800-meter as he ran a 1:44.78 to take ninth overall in the prelims.
- Erin Starkes took 11th (25.13) while Jailyn Ross came in 14th (25.46) in the prelims of the women's 200-meter dash.
- Liam Ehrman took 14th in the men's 100-meter dash prelims (11.34) and also finished 15th in the 200-meter dash (22.98).
 
NEXY UP
The Norse are back for Championship Sunday as NKU will conclude its stay at the Horizon League Championships on May 7. The field portion of the final round slate will begin at 9 AM ET while track student-athletes will toe the line at noon.
