Norse see success on day two of Horizon League Championships

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Day two of the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships saw a lot of preliminary success for Norse runners. Cameron Bitterman put herself in a great position in both the 200m and 400m races, notching the top qualifying time in both races. Olivia Kennedy (800m) and Sierra Kendall (400m Hurdles) both finished with the second-best times in the preliminary rounds and will look to capture Horizon League crowns on Sunday.

Kayla Willging put some points on the board for the Norse women, finishing sixth in the pole vault and tying the program record.

NOTABLES (WOMEN)
- Cameron Bitterman made noise in both the 400m and 200m races, notching the best time of any qualifier in the 400m (55.69). Bitterman ran a 24.25, again leading all qualifiers, in the 200m to secure a spot in both finals.
- Sierra Kendall qualified for the 400m Hurdles final, running a 1:00.55, the second-best time of any qualifier. 
- Olivia Kennedy ran a 2:13.00 in the 800m prelims, punching a ticket to Sunday's final with the best qualifying time.
- Kayla Willging finished sixth in the pole vault, clearing a best mark of 3.51m and tying NKU's program record. 

NOTABLES (MEN)
- Kaden Gardner finished strong in the Decathlon after an excellent day one, winning the Javelin throw and finishing in the top five in all other events, as he finished second overall, totaling 6106 points. Josh Brockman earned a fourth-place finish in the event, totaling 5361 points. On Saturday, Brockman finished second in the pole vault and 110m hurdles. Curtis Rust notched an eighth-place finish in the event.

- Elijah Harrison (50.87) and Branton Koroly (50.11) secured their spots in the 400m final with solid preliminary times. 
- Brayden Holland set a new Norse freshman record in the 800m run, finishing in 1:53.28. a

Sunday field events start at 10 AM, with track events and the ESPN+ stream kicking off at noon.
