Baseball Gets Back Into Win Column, Beat Bulldogs

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky baseball program got back on track Tuesday afternoon from Friendship Field, taking down the Bulldogs of Butler for the second time this season with a final score of 7-6.

NORSE NOTES
  • Sackenheim earned his first collegiate victory today against Butler after throwing 1.0 inning in this nonconference match-up. This was Sackenheim's seventh appearance of the season, eighth in his Norse career and currently has an earned run average of 4.76 on the year. 
  • McFadden-Ackman continues his breakout season after totaling a three-hit day with another home run, two doubles and five total runs batted in. Liam now ranks third in the Horizon League in RBI (53), second in doubles (16), fourth in home runs (11) and third in slugging percentage (.621). 
  • NKU remains in second place in the Horizon League at 15-9 overall, and are three games back of Wright State and the Norse are just two games ahead of the Golden Grizzlies of Oakland at 13-11 as well. 
  • The Norse have totaled 27 wins on the season now, which is a NKU Baseball program record for most victories in the NCAA Division I era dating back to 2017 (25-33).

Northern Kentucky Baseball is prepped for their final home stand of the 2023 season this weekend from Highland Heights, Kentucky. The Norse will host Youngstown State in a three-game Horizon League series beginning Friday, May 12 from Friendship Field, with first pitch slated for a 2:00 PM (ET) start. This three-game series will be broadcasted via ESPN+ as well.
