Kowalski has career night as Women’s Soccer posts hard-fought draw at Louisville

LOUISVILLE – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer program, behind a career night from senior goalkeeper Mickayla Kowalski, went down to Louisville and collected a hard-fought 0-0 draw against the Cardinals in a non-conference match at Lynn Stadium on Sunday night.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Northern Kentucky – 0, Louisville - 0
LOCATION: Lynn Stadium – Louisville, Ky.
RECORDS: NKU: 1-1-2 (0-0-0 HL), UL: 0-2-2 (0-0-0 ACC)

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kowalski was the driving force behind the Norse draw. The Harrison, Ohio native recorded a career-best seven saves in the contest to post her second straight clean sheet of the season. With the performance, Kowalski is now tied for second in the Horizon League in both shutouts and saves (18). It was the most saves posted by a NKU student-athlete in a match since Mimi Stines turned aside seven shots in a draw against Milwaukee back on April 17, 2021.
- The Norse finished with three shots on frame on the evening. Lydia Self, Shay Shipley and Emma McSwigan each put a shot on target for NKU, respectively.
- The best chance for the Norse came in the 68th-minute as McSwigan's strong shot on frame was deflected at the last second by the Louisville keeper. The redirected shot hit off the bar and the Norse got one last chance at the net off the rebound, but both opportunities were cleared aside by the Cardinals to keep it at a 0-0 match.
- All three of NKU's shots on goal came in the second half.
- The Norse and Cardinals have now met in three straight seasons, and four times overall in school history. NKU improved to 0-3-1 against its Kentucky counterparts with tonight's result.
