ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer program kept its strong campaign rolling with an exciting 1-1 draw on the road against Oakland in a Horizon League clash inside Oakland Soccer Field on Thursday evening.
Both the Norse and Golden Grizzlies had the flair for the dramatic as NKU scored first in the 71st-minute and Oakland answered back in the 88th-minute, which led to the exciting draw between conference foes.
Northern Kentucky improved to 3-2-5 overall and 0-1-2 in Horizon play. The Norse are 3-1-5 over their last nine matches played.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Norse and Golden Grizzlies played an even first half as each side got a feel for one another. NKU out shot Oakland by a 2-0 margin and held a 3-0 edge in corners. The two sides entered the locker room with a 0-0 tie after 45 minutes of action.
- It was then time for clutch goals by each team to lead to the draw.
- Northern Kentucky struck first in the 71st-minute as
Erykah Cornett headed home a corner kick off the foot of
Shay Shipley to give NKU the 1-0 lead. It was Cornett's second goal of the season and Shipley's third assist on the year.
- Senior keeper
Mickayla Kowalski made a huge save in the 82nd-minute as she dove across the line to push the Oakland chance away to keep it at 0-0.
- The Golden Grizzlies were able to tie the match up in the 88th-minute as the contest finished in a 0-0 draw.

The Norse return to Highland Heights for another Horizon League showdown, this time against Purdue Fort Wayne, set for Sunday, September 24 at NKU Soccer Stadium. Kick is set for 1 PM ET and the match will be
