HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer program put on an incredible effort in a Horizon League clash against Purdue Fort Wayne on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at NKU Soccer Stadium. In the end though, NKU wasn't able to put one across the line despite being the better team on the pitch as the two sides played to a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
Northern Kentucky finished the match with a strong edge in shots (18 to 6), corner kicks (9 to 3) and shots on target (9 to 2). NKU also held possession for 53 percent of the match.
With the result, the Norse have improved to 3-6-1 over their past 10 matches.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Norse out shot the Mastodons by an 8-2 margin in the opening 45 minutes. Four of NKU's shots hit the target compared to just one for Purdue Fort Wayne, but none could beat PFW's keeper as the two sides entered the locker room at 0-0 at the half.
- The trend continued for Northern Kentucky in the second half as the Norse held the edge in shots (10 to 4), corners (5 to 1) and shots on target (also 5-1) but neither side could put one in the back of the net as the match ended in a 0-0 draw.

Lydia Self were all over the pitch today as they each recorded four shots in the match.

Mickayla Kowalski made two saves between the pipes for her fifth shutout of the season. The mark ranks her second in clean sheets in the Horizon League.

The Norse remain in Highland Heights for another Horizon League showdown, this time against Milwaukee, set for Saturday, September 30 at NKU Soccer Stadium. The contest will get underway at 1 PM ET and will be Northern Kentucky's Mental Health Awareness match.
