Men’s Basketball on wrong side of hard-fought battle with Purdue Fort Wayne

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's basketball program took to the national stage and despite a hard-fought effort, found themselves on the wrong side of a Horizon League battle with Purdue Fort Wayne, 63-58, inside Truist Arena on Thursday night.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Marques Warrick continued his run at school history as he moved into third all-time in program history in scoring. The standout senior guard dropped a game-best 27 points to go along with four rebounds, four swipes and a helper. Warrick moved past Brady Jackson (1,980 career points) to take over third all-time at NKU. The Lexington, Kentucky native is just a single point off from 2,000 in his career, as he will enter Sunday's conference clash at 1,999 career points. He is just nine points away from taking over second-place all-time for himself, and now needs just 68 points to take over the school record from NKU legend Drew McDonald. - Randall Pettus II was asked to step into a larger role, and he delivered with nine points, five rebounds, four steals, three assists and a rejection. The freshman guard set a season and career-best in steals, blocks, assists, boards, free throws made (four) and minutes (31).
- Cade Meyer had a strong game off the bench as he finished with nine points off a perfect 4-of-4 night from the field. He added two boards and a block in just 13 minutes of action.
- Keeyan Itejere tied for the game lead with three blocks.
- Trey Robinson added a team-best seven boards.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED HIGHLIGHTS POST GAME PRESSERS NEXT UP
The Norse hit the road for a rematch with conference rival Youngstown State, set for Sunday, January 28 at 1:30 PM ET from inside the Beeghly Center. NKU took the first match up of the year with a 79-76 victory in Highland Heights back on January 4, 2024. Sunday's matinee will be played in front of a national audience on ESPN+.
