FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Northern Kentucky women's basketball program went on a spirited comeback attempt, but in the end the Norse found themselves on the wrong side of a heartbreaker to Purdue Fort Wayne, 61-55 in a Horizon League clash inside the Gates Sports Center on Saturday.

NORSE NOTES
- McCray recorded her fifth straight double-double with another huge game down low. She posted a 15-point, 20 rebound-performance. It was her ninth double-double of the season overall and her second game of the year with 20-plus boards. She continues to lead the Horizon in rebounding, with an average of 10.6 boards per contest. She is also sixth in the Horizon in scoring at 14.3 points per game. To go with the scoring rank, she is the top freshman in the conference when it comes to points per contest.
- Lacy added 12 points and a season-best seven rebounds. She scored all 10 of NKU's points in the opening quarter.
- Igo chipped in eight points, four boards and two helpers. She shot 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.
- Mitchell-Steen hit double-digits in rebounds (10 overall) to go along with six points, one assist, one steal and a block. It was her second game of the season with 10-plus boards.
- Purdue Fort Wayne took a 13-10 lead after the first quarter and a 28-20 edge into the half.
- The Mastodons took their largest lead of the game as they extended their advantage to 43-30 with 2:22 left in the third.
- That is when the Norse made their move, as NKU went on a spirited 12-0 run over the next four minutes to make it a 43-42 game with 8:32 left.
- Northern Kentucky once again made it a one-point game at 45-44 with 6:34 remaining in the conference clash.
- That is when Purdue Fort Wayne punched back as the Mastodons pulled away at the end to escape with the 61-55 victory.
