Doersching's late winner lifts Women's Soccer to sixth straight victory, Norse secure two seed in Horizon League Championships

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Northern Kentucky women's soccer has secured the two seed in the Horizon League Tournament, as the Norse won their sixth straight match in dramatic fashion vs. Wright State on Tuesday. 

Northern Kentucky finished the regular season with an 11-6-1 overall record (8-1-1 Horizon), marking the most wins in a season for the program since 2016, when the Norse won 13 games.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Northern Kentucky and Wright State each registered 13 shots in the contest, with NKU holding a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal. 
  • Each goalkeeper made six saves, with Megan Gessner recording a shutout.  Gessner has not allowed a goal in 216 minutes. 
  • The Norse finished with nine corner kicks in the match. 
  • Emilie Doersching's first goal of the season could not have come at a better time, as she found the back of the net in the 81st minute to put the Norse ahead for good.
