Idowu's 29 points, Blevins' game-winner lift Norse over Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Jeff Hans era at Northern Kentucky is off to a hot start, as the first-year head coach picked up a tough road win over Marshall, the reigning Sun Belt Champions. The win marked the first of Coach Hans' career at Northern Kentucky, and did so in exciting fashion, as grad transfer Halle Idowu dropped a career-best 29 points, and Macey Blevins hit a game-winning three-pointer.

THE FACTS
FINAL SCORE: Northern Kentucky – 80, Marshall - 78
LOCATION: Cam Henderson Center - Huntington, West Virginia

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Halle Idowu had a monster game for the Norse, dropping 29 points on 13-18 shooting, grabbing eight rebounds, blocking two shots, and adding two steals. Her 29 points were the most by any Norse in a game since Carter McCray scored 29 against Cleveland State on March 7, 2024.
- Kalissa Lacy gave the Norse a scoring punch off the bench as she knocked down three triples. Lacy finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
- Macey Blevins scored ten points on 4-8 shooting and went 2-3 from beyond the arc. She also added three assists, two steals, and two rebounds.
- The freshman duo of Anna Hamilton and Kamora Morgan scored eight points apiece. Hamilton recorded a team-high five assists while Morgan went 2-3 from three-point range.
- The Norse dominated in bench scoring, winning the bench points battle 31-13. The Norse bench recorded 21 points in the second quarter alone.
- Northern Kentucky had a great afternoon from deep as a team, shooting 10-24 (41.7%). Four Norse recorded multiple made three-pointers.

NORSE NOTES
- After falling behind 15-20 at the first quarter break, the Norse played an outstanding second quarter, outscoring the Thundering Herd 36-19. Northern Kentucky shot 74% from the field in the period, going 5-6 from beyond the arc. Kamora Morgan knocked down back-to-back triples to end the period, as NKU led 51-39 at the half.
- A Macey Blevins three early in the third quarter gave the Norse a thirteen-point lead, which was their largest of the game. Marshall slowly chipped away at NKU's lead, eventually taking a one-point lead late in the third quarter.
- The fourth quarter was a nailbiter, as eight of the game's 16 lead changes occurred in the final period. Several Norse contributed down the stretch to give NKU the victory. Noelle Hubert's only basket of the game was a lead-taking three-pointer with just three minutes to go. Mya Meredith, who saw her first action in a Northern Kentucky jersey, tipped in a shot with just under a minute to go for a one-point lead.
- When the Norse needed her most, Macey Blevins delivered. Down one with 4.5 seconds to go, the Norse had an inbound pass under the basket. Blevins passed to Meredith on the right wing, and she immediately kicked it back to Blevins, who sunk the game-winning corner three to take down the Thundering Herd.
