Men's Basketball adds to 2025 class with signing of Utah guard JJ Apathjang

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — A talented guard from the state of Utah is set to join the Northern Kentucky men's basketball team, as head coach Darrin Horn has announced the signing of JJ Apathjang, made official on Wednesday. 

"JJ is a fearless competitor and a proven winner that will bring us great competitive toughness," said Darrin Horn. His ability to create for himself and others makes him a perfect guard for our system. In addition, he has elite defensive potential both athletically and with his mentality to excel in our defense"

JJ Apathjang Signed

Apathjang, a 6-4 guard, soon begins his senior season at Judge Memorial Catholic High School in Salt Lake City, and is coming off a phenomenal junior campaign that saw him earn 3A Player of the Year and All-State honors. 

During the 2023-24 season, Apathjang averaged 18.9 PPG, 8.2 REB, and 4.5 AST while adding 48 steals and seven blocks. He posted 12 double-doubles with one triple-double, and knocked down 60 threes at a 40% clip. 

Apathjang played at the club level for Team Utah, and is set to join the Norse in 2025.
