HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Northern Kentucky men's basketball returned to action at home on Saturday, capping a doubleheader at Truist Arena vs. an old GLVC rival in the Bellarmine Knights.
NKU toppled Bellarmine behind a hyper efficient second half, taking home win number two of the season with an 86-70 victory.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Randall Pettus II dropped a career-high 20 points in just 23 minutes, adding five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Northern Kentucky turned the ball over just five times in the win, while forcing 15 Bellarmine turnovers.
- Trey Robinson dominated with 24 points, eight boards and three steals. His scoring output marked a season-high.
- Sam Vinson scored 18 points, his fourth straight game with 15+ points. Vinson now sits just three points away from 1,000 career points.
- NKU finished with 16 assists to just five turnovers.
- NKU won the rebounding battle 35-24.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- NKU and Bellarmine battled throughout the first half, which featured four ties and three lead changes.
- The Norse dominated on the offensive end in the second half, shooting 63% from the field and 57% from three point land. NKU led by as many as 18 on the way to victory.
