Women’s Basketball Falls in Season Opener

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky Women's Basketball opened the 2024-25 season on Monday night, facing a very tough Middle Tennessee squad at home. The Blue Raiders overpowered the Norse with their speed and size on their way to a 79-58 victory. Middle Tennessee led wire-to-wire in the win, dominating on the break and in the paint.

THE FACTS
FINAL SCORE: Northern Kentucky – 58, Middle Tennessee - 79
LOCATION: Truist Arena - Highland Heights, Ky.

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Halle Idowu led the Norse in scoring on a stellar night from the field, shooting 7-9 from the field and dropping 18 points.
- Gabby Razzano had a solid night off the bench, going 3-5 from behind the arc and finishing with 11 points and six rebounds.

NORSE NOTES
- Idowu set a high bar in her inaugural performance in the white and gold, as the grad transfer put up 18 points on efficient shooting. Iwodu looks to be a key piece of the Norse offense going forward, as she also recorded the best +/- of any starter with a -4 on the night.
- Gabby Razzano put up a new career high to start her sophomore season, recording eleven points. Her night helped provide a spark off the bench for the Norse, and was able to stretch the floor as a forward.
- Northern Kentucky shot 29 threes in tonight's season opener, a promising sign that this squad will look to get their three-point jumpers up. NKU also had 14 assists on their 20 field goals, showing their ability to move the ball to find an open shot.

NEXT UP
Northern Kentucky will face another tough test on Thursday, as they take on #22 Kentucky in Lexington. Following that, the Norse head east to Huntington to battle with Marshall on Sunday, November 10th.
