HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky baseball program once again took an opponent down to the final inning, but NKU found itself on the wrong side of a 7-5 decision to in-state foe Morehead State at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

Mitch Wood continues to swing one of the hottest bats in the Horizon League as he went 2-for-5 at the dish with a home run and two RBI. It was his fourth straight game with a homer.
- If Wood's bat isn't the hottest,
Liam McFadden-Ackman is right next to him with a 3-for-4 outing that included a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a base on balls.

Tyler Shaneyfelt added a 2-for-4 day with NKU's other RBI.

Logen Devenport and
Cleary Simpson also came around to score for the Norse.

Treyvin Moss chipped in a stolen base in the contest.
- On the mound,
Matthew Lopez threw 2.2 scoreless innings in relief to go with three strikeouts.

Ryan Pehrson also added two scoreless innings of work with a punchout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Morehead State got on the board first with a run in the top of the second to make it a 1-0 game.
- Northern Kentucky answered immediately with two runs in bottom half of the inning to jump ahead 2-1.
- Back-and-forth it went as the Eagles dropped another two runs in the top of the third to push back ahead, 3-2.
- Once again, NKU punched right back with two more runs in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 4-3 contest.
- The Norse got another tally in the bottom of the fifth to give them a 5-3 edge.
- The two sides would continue to remain scoreless before Morehead State went off for three runs in the top of the ninth to retake the lead at 7-5.
- MSU closed out the game with a scoreless bottom of the ninth to escape with the 7-5 win.
NEXT UP
The Norse hit the road for a showdown with Southeastern Conference (SEC) foe Missouri in a series that runs Friday, March 1 through Sunday, March 3. All three games will be played in front of a national audience on SEC Network+.
