HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The whole squad got involved as the Northern Kentucky baseball program knocked off Union 8-3 in a mid-week, non-conference contest at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
The Norse got 21 different student-athletes into the ballgame in a tune up before Horizon League play resumes this weekend.

Colton Kucera led the way for NKU with a 2-for-5 performance that included a game-high four RBI and a run scored.

John Odom finished with a game-best three hits off a 3-for-5 effort.

Zacarias Salinas also chipped in with a 2-for-4 showing that featured two RBI and a run.

Peyton Lane went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI and a run scored.

Liam McFadden-Ackman posted a 1-for-4 outing with a run and a walk.

Cleary Simpson went 2-for-3 at the dish with a run scored.

Ryan Kilpatrick (1-for-4, walk) and
Jake Altman (1-for-2) both came around to score for NKU.

Treyvin Moss added a RBI and a run scored.

Andrew Mulhern picked up the victory on the mound, his third of the season, with two scoreless innings of work to go with four strikeouts and no hits allowed.

Jake Johnson,
Karter Hann and
Jared Teke all added a scoreless frame, respectively, with zero hits against.

Ryan Pehrson recorded two scoreless innings with two punch outs and just a single hit allowed.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Norse jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first off of two-RBI knocks by both Kucera and Salinas.
- Northern Kentucky pushed another runner across the plate as Moss drove in Altman to make it a 5-0 game.
- Lane recorded a RBI in the bottom of the sixth to add to the Norse's now 6-0 edge.
- Union got on the board with a three-run top of the seventh to bring the contest to 6-3.
- Northern Kentucky added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to seal the 8-3 win.
NEXT UP
The Norse are back to conference play with a weekend battle on the road at Oakland that gets underway on Friday, April 19. First pitch is set for 3:30 PM ET inside the Oakland Baseball Field.
