Gherezgher set to join Men’s Basketball program

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's basketball program and head coach Darrin Horn have found the next point guard for the Norse as Dan Gherezgher has joined the NKU squad, announced officially on Friday.

Gherezgher makes his way to Highland Heights by way of Michigan Tech where he was a two-year starter with the Huskies. The 6'4" versatile guard is coming off a 2023-24 season in which he averaged 15.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and nearly a steal a game on a squad that advanced to the GLIAC Quarterfinals. The Brookfield, Wisconsin native shot 47.1 percent from the field, 33.8 percent from beyond the arc and 75.7 percent at the charity stripe.

With his strong campaign, Gherezgher was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team for the second consecutive year. He finished the 2023-24 season ranked 10th in the conference in points per game, tied for 17th in assists and tied for 23rd in rebounding.

The signing continues the trend of finding a top-level NCAA Division II student-athlete to run the show for the Norse as Gherezgher follows in the footsteps of recent stars Michael Bradley and Xavier Rhodes. The biggest difference between the three point guard additions is that Gherezgher will have two years of eligibility remaining at NKU.

"We are thrilled to add a player of Dan's caliber on the perimeter," Horn said. "He brings good size to his position and his versatility as a playmaker and scorer will make an instant impact. Most exciting, there is lots of room for him to improve and his commitment to development matches ours as a program."

Prior to Michigan Tech, Gherezgher was a standout for Brookfield East High School. He was selected First Team All-Greater Metro Conference and ranked inside the GMC Top-25 for student-athletes in the state of Wisconsin. Gherezgher averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists as a senior with the Spartans.

Gherezgher also competed with JH1 Elite in the AAU ranks. He will join the Norse in the very near future for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign.
