Rhodes continues pro career; inks with KK Dubrovnik of Croatia

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Former Northern Kentucky standout point guard Xaiver Rhodes is continuing his professional career after signing with KK Dubrovnik of the Croatia professional basketball league.

The deal is the second for Rhodes since his time with the Norse. The Lee's Summit, Missouri native played in the Slovak professional league for BC Prievidza this past year, where he averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 steals per contest over 41 games played. Rhodes led BC Prievidza to the second-best record overall in the entire league as they advanced all the way to the league's semifinals.

To go with the team success, Rhodes paced his club in swipes and finished second on the team in helpers. After his stellar year, he was also voted League Player of the Week once and was selected to Eurobasket.com's All-Slovakian Nike SBL Third Team.

Rhodes made a huge impact in his only year with the Norse as the guiding hand of the NKU offense in 2022-23 after transferring to Highland Heights from Florida Southern College. In 34 games, Rhodes averaged 7.7 points, 3.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals per contest. He also shot 44.1 percent from the field and 38.2 from beyond the arc. He finished the year second in the Horizon League with a 2.0 assist/turnover ratio and in total steals (67), was third in the conference in steals per game and tied for ninth in swipes per contest.

For his collegiate career, Rhodes racked up 1,072 points, 441 assists, 342 boards and 176 steals overall. To go with his Horizon League Championship and NCAA appearance with the Norse in 2022-23, Rhodes also won the NCAA Division II National Championships in 2018-19 with Northwest Missouri State.

Some of his top Norse highlights still live on in NKU lore, which included hitting an insanely clutch three-pointer as the shot clock expired to put the Norse ahead 59-53 with just 1:50 remaining in the Horizon League Championship and his ankle breaking crossover and pull up jumper that made the national rounds as NKU put a scare into top-seeded Houston in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Rhodes will hit the court with his new team in late September or early October for the start of the 2024-25 campaign with KK Dubrovnik. His deal was for one season with the club.
