Record-breaking crowd cheers on Women’s Soccer in home opener

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer program battled in front of a record-breaking crowd in the Norse's home opener at NKU Soccer Stadium on Tuesday night. Nearly 900 fans (an announced attendance of 879) packed inside Scudamore Field to cheer on the Norse against non-conference foe and 2023 NCAA Tournament team, Ohio University. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Norse were tamed by the Bobcats in a 4-0 loss.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Megan Gessner posted a scoreless 27 minutes between the pipes to go with one save. The Fort Thomas, Kentucky native has not allowed a single goal in her nearly 48 minutes of action over two games played.
- As a team, NKU racked up six saves in the contest. Northern Kentucky now leads the Horizon League in total saves with 17 overall.
- NKU put two shots on frame in the contest as Sofia Wilmes and Ayla Conn each posted a shot on goal, respectively.
- Northern Kentucky is also currently ranked in a tie for second in the Horizon in shots on goal (8) and shots on goal per contest (4.0) to go with being tied for third in the conference in total shots (15) and fifth in total shots per game (7.5). HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was all Ohio in this one as the Bobcats got on the board right away with a goal in the sixth minute.
- Ohio also added tallies in the 22nd, 48th and 56th minute.
