HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky – The Northern Kentucky volleyball team played its home opener on Friday night, hanging tough with the Missouri Tigers in front of a raucous crowd at Regents Hall.
NKU fell to the Tigers 3-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Joy Banks starred for the Norse, posting a second straight double-double with 17 kills and 14 digs, adding a block as well. Banks posted a .341 hitting percentage in the loss.
- Lucy Cluxton notched a team-high 19 digs in the loss with five assists as well.
- Freshman Allison Risley put together another impressive performance, adding to her great start to the season at the Bluegrass Battle. Risley finished the match with 10 kills and seven digs.
- Sydney Bray came on in the third set for the Norse and finished with four kills.
- Torie Houston and Lainey Green combined for 43 assists with Green's 22 leading the way.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Missouri put together an efficient first set with 17 kills, taking the first set 25-21. The Norse posted 11 kills and a pair of blocks of their own, finishing with a .206 hitting percentage in the set.
- Northern Kentucky evened the match 1-1 after a marathon second set. NKU was able to take advantage of eight service errors from Missouri, and Ivey Stocks' ace proved to be set point at 34-32 Northern Kentucky.
- Missouri bounced back in the third set with a 25-21 victory.
- NKU was unable to hold an early lead in set four, falling to Missouri 3-1.

- The NKU Invitational continues Saturday, as Louisville takes on Missouri at 2 PM ET before NKU plays South Dakota at 5 PM ET.
