HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky Men's Tennis program opened its 2025 spring campaign with a tough test against #7 Kentucky. The Wildcats started off the doubles round with convincing 6-2 and 6-1 victories, while Xavier Ecarma and Jackson Poulos battled against a pair of top #100 ranked singles players in #79 Charelie Cosnet and #39 Jaden Weekes. Ecarma and Poulos fought hard, losing the final doubles set 6-4. 

In the singles matches, Jackson Poulos was the first to fall, losing 6-1, 6-1 to Matt Rankin. Xavier Ecarma picked up a game in round two of his match, falling 6-0, 6-1 to Eli Stephenson. Jacob Rouleau-Mailly made a run in his first set against the #79th ranked Cosnet, but ended up falling 6-4, 6-1 on the day. Emilio Bravo, the lone returner to the 2025 squad, fell to Jack Loutit, 6-1, 6-2. The final two matches saw Hector Salvador Civera drop 8-1 to Eric Crivei, while UK's Martin Breysach picked up an 8-2 victory over Norse freshman Joao Pimenta.

NKU Men's Tennis will compete next Wednesday with a match at Eastern Kentucky, set to start at noon in Richmond. Following that are a pair of home matches at Five Seasons in Crestview Hills, first against Southern Indiana on February 8th, before taking on Dayton on February 14th.
