HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky Norse Women's Basketball tipped off a three-game homestand on Thursday night with a rematch against Milwaukee, a squad they narrowly beat on the road earlier in January. -
Macey Blevins dropped 13 points, seven of which came at the free-throw line. She added five assists, five rebounds, and three steals. It marked her fourth game in conference play recording 10+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 4+ assists.
-
Abby Wolterman finished with ten points, all of which came in the first half, and grabbed eight rebounds. She had five offensive boards, her second-highest total of the season, as her highest also came against the Panthers where she grabbed seven.
-
Halle Idowu also finished in double figures, scoring ten points. Idowu grabbed four rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.
NORSE NOTES
- The Norse dominated at the free throw line, converting 16-17 attempts, their best mark in a game all season. 16 of the 17 attempts were attempted by Blevins, Idowu, and
Jaci Jones. To complement NKU's 17 free throw attempts, they only allowed six from the Panthers, a difference that helped the Norse down the stretch in crunch time.
- NKU took good care of the ball, only turning it over nine times, a season-low.
- Northern Kentucky took control early, taking a five-point lead by the end of the first quarter, but a back-and-forth second period saw the Norse lead by just a pair at the halftime break. NKU was able to pull away in the third, seeing their lead grow to as large as eleven.
- A big scoring drought haunted the Norse in the fourth, as they went scoreless for over six minutes, and their only field goal came just 15 seconds into the period. Ultimately, sharp free throw shooting won the game for the Norse, going 11-12 from the line over the final ten minutes as they held on for a victory over Milwaukee.
