INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Following a massive 2-1 win over Wright State on Saturday, Northern Kentucky University Norse midfielder Bennett Gerak was tabbed Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. The junior assisted on both goals in the victory, helping lead the Norse to their first league win of the 2025 season. It marks the first individual award of Gerak's career. 

"BG had a really good week of training last week, and he continued it with a strong performance in the match, setting up two wonderful goals with great services into the box that guys finished well," said Norse head coach Tom Poitras. "We all know what BG is capable of producing and will look forward to more of it down the stretch of the season."

The two assists in the match marked a career-high for the junior, with both coming off his left foot. After going down 1-0 in the second half, the Norse battled back in the match to win 2-1. Gerak notched his first assist on a free kick, whipping a ball in to Steven Boaghe Braniste to level the score. He then assisted the winner, again from the left side, to Ali Taleb to give the Norse a late win. 

NKU Men's Soccer plays their first of three consecutive home matches on Saturday, taking on IU Indy at 4 PM.
