Women’s Volleyball continues impressive stretch with sweep over Mastodons, improves to 9-1 in Horizon League play

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's volleyball entered the second half of Horizon League play on top of the standings on Friday night, as they opened the conference season at 8-1. NKU continued its stretch of dominance over conference opponents with a three-set victory over Purdue Fort Wayne, as the Norse look to maintain their conference standing.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– Northern Kentucky racked up ten aces in the three-set match, which marked the second-highest total by any Horizon League team in a single match during conference play. Ava Hoying and Allison Risley each had three, while Kendall Hopewell had a pair. 
– Four different Norse tallied eight or more kills, as Risley, Hopewell, and Sydney Bray each had nine, while Ivey Stocks had eight. All were efficient on the night as well, but none more than Hopewell, who went nine for ten on attacks with no errors. 
– Freshman setter Abby Pickard led the Norse in both assists (24) and digs (12).
– As a team, the Norse posted a .381 hitting percentage, posting an attacking line of 40-8-84. NKU led the Mastodons in every team statistical category except blocks, in which both teams recorded four.

NKU takes on Purdue Fort Wayne in the return match on Saturday, with the first serve set for 2 PM in Regents Hall.
